Javier Pinzon-Arenas

Javier O. Pinzon-Arenas was born in Socorro-Santander, Colombia, in 1990. He is a Mechatronics Engineer who graduated with honors (Cum Laude) for his Bachelor’s degree in 2013 and received the Laureate Project Award for his Master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering in 2019 from the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada (UMNG), Colombia.
He spent one year as a lecturer in Biomedical Engineering at UMNG, Bogotá, Colombia. He joined the Posada-Q Lab as an intern in the Spring of 2022, then as a Ph.D. student in the Spring of 2024. He has been a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers since 2015 and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society since 2023.
Javier is experienced in industrial automation, electronic control, and deep learning. His current research interests include robotics, biosignal processing, and artificial intelligence. He focuses his research on machine learning and deep learning, mainly applying it to the detection of pain and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Outside research, Javier has trained in Shotokan Karate-Do as a member of the World Karate Federation, reaching the degree of 3rd Dan Black Belt.
